The purpose of this Newsletter is to keep in touch with my students, their relatives, friends and potential students of the social activities that we hold outside the classroom.

I feel that it is important to organise these occasional activities as they bring together students who would only normally attend lessons on a one to one basis and where under normal conditions they would not meet together. These events also encourage the speaking of conversational Spanish in a fun and informal atmosphere.

All my students are encouraged to send items for posting on this site, of news of things that they have done on holiday, travel, entertainment, in their social life and leisure etc where their knowledge of Spanish has helped them enjoy their time.

June 2009

On a Saturday afternoon in mid June 2009, we held a Tapas Party, where authentic home-made Latin Tapas were served with refreshments and drinks. During the afternoon, we played bingo. The numbers were called out in Spanish and prices were awarded to the winners.

The party was considered a success not only with my students but also their partners and friends.

From the comments I received, everyone said how relaxed and enjoyable the afternoon was, and If you don’t believe me take a look at the pictures.

August 2009

In August 2009, We had another Fiesta which was held in the same venue as the previous party and again with more home-made Tapas supplied in abundance. There was a very enjoyable quiz night held in Spanish with a little help when necessary. The questions were all designed with intermediate and advance students in mind.

The main purpose was fun, but on the slightly serious side it was to help, improve and learn Spanish vocabulary.
